Some specific words can be excluded from appearing in an index. For example, you can exclude some frequently used basic words such as a, the, at, of, and for. Excluding words from an index can make the index 10% to 15% smaller, improving search efficiency. However, this also means users cannot search using phrases that contain stop words. It is a good idea to list the stop words that are not indexed in the Readme file.

To exclude specific words from the index:

  1. Choose Document > Advanced Processing > Create Full Text Indexes.
  2. Type the word you want to exclude from indexing and click Add. Repeat the step as needed to include more stop words.
  3. If you want to remove a word from the Stop word list (that is, to include it again in the indexing process), select the word and click Del.
